Set against the backdrop of the Himalayas, Nepal is a country that contains great diversity in terms of religion, culture and geography, which greatly influences its cuisine. Dishes are known to vary from one community to another however, dal-bhat-tarkari, which can be translated as lentil-rice-curry is known to be the staple meal across the country. Traces of influence from the neighbouring countries, India and China are also evident in the Nepalese cuisine, i.e. MO:MO, a Tibetan-Nepalese hybrid dumpling dish.
